Last weekend in Ventspils (Latvia) was held international tournament “Ventspils Atlants”. There were participants from different countries: Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Norway, Belgium, Belarussia, Ukraine.
I won 1 place in professional level among all weight categories (they counted result divided by body weight). I did jerk 83 and snatch 57+47. 135 in biathlon.
Last weekend I did my first workshop. It was in Wexford (Ireland) in the Total Fitness
System gym. I came in Wexford on July 2 and we did one small training before 2 days workshop.
On Saturday and Sunday we were working for technique and doing any assistant exercises. Also we were talking about training rules and different training method. Then I showed two jerk sets: 2×24 kg 5 min and 2×32 kg 3 min. I like all participants. They are very cheerful and diligent guys and girls.
Thanks to Mick Kelly for helding this event.
It was very good weekend.

The running is needed for endurance training of kettlebell lifters. It’s hard to achieve good results without running. I distinguish 3 main groups of running:
1. Running for the common endurance. It is running about 10 km. Not fast.
2. Running for specialized endurance. This is a distance of 3-4 km with a maximum pace. Quickly as possible.
3. Recovery run. Jogging 20-30 minutes.
In my opinion the best in the preparation for a competition period would be the inclusion of running in training by such scheme: running type 1 and 2 only once a week and recovery run (type 3) every day after training with kettlebells.

Last week in Belgorod was held final of Russian Championship.
We first tried the new weight classes: 63, 68, 73, 78, 85, 95, 105 and more then 105 kg. Also we tried new standard kettlebells. I really like its.
I was second after Jonny Benidze. I did jerk 81 and snatch 51+46. Total in biathlon is 129,5. It’s two points better then last time (on semi-final).
July 3 and 4 I’ll be doing kettlebell workshop in Wexford, Ireland. I’ll tell them about:
- technique of classic exercises with kettlebells (ofcourse I’ll show it too),
- additional exercises in kettlebell sport,
- any typical methods of training.
Welcome in Wexford!

Jonny Benidze constantly surprises us with his records. He participates in competitions in the same weight class that me (w.c. up to 60 kg, from 2010 in Russia is the smallest w.c. is up to 63 kg.), but shows the results with which he could win in the category of 65 kg and 70 kg and 75 kg, and possibly 80 kg.
He started to show very good results in the age of 17, when he did jerk a 32-kilogram kettlebells more than 100 reps. His result does not stand still.
So recently he showed a new stunning record. At the European Championships, held IUKL, Jonny did jerk 130 reps and snatch 204 (102 +102), in weight class up to 63 kg. It’s greatest result of world kettlebell lifting!

In Russia, have adopted new standards on the form of competitive kettlebells.
Especially for the competition will be issued a single form of kettlebells 16, 24 and 32 kg. Later plans to release kettlebells of other weights.
All of Russian competitions will be held with such standard kettlebells.

Today I had interesting training. I did jerk 2×32 kg. I did 15 set 1,5 minutes each. Total 250 reps. The rest between set was 3 min. So my results by sets was: 15/16/16/16/16/16/17/17/17/17/17/17/17/18/18. It was not very hard but 250 reps per workout it’s very interesting :). Next time I’ll try to do 250 reps per 10 sets..
By the way, with me same training has two my students. One of them did jerk 2×32 kg 232 reps in 13 sets (his body weight 80 kg). Other guy (maybe you remember him – Roman Kozlov, 12 years old guy, 50 kg of body weight) did jerk 2×16 kg 231 in 9 sets…
I was funny training…
